lyrics

There’s a girl that I once knew, and from a room all painted black, she writes a letter full of questions that I can’t answer. And I don’t think that she believes me when I tell her that the past is just a road that can’t be found once you’ve stepped off it. And I say, “It’s just a dream like any other…” “It’s just a memory upon waking…”

She asks me, “If love is true, then how is it true that it can end so completely?” “And if love is real, then why can’t this feel the way it did before?” And I say, “Love.... you know that love can never end.”

There’s a girl that once was mine; I never thought she wouldn’t be. But time can change even the one thing you’re most sure of. I try to tell her that the past is just a room made out of windows, that you can always see, but you can never reach, no matter how hard you try. It’s just a dream like any other. It’s just a memory upon waking.

"If love is true, how can it be true that it can end so completely? And if love is real, why can't we feel the way we did before?" You know that love can never end. And I hope someday that you will understand the reasons why... why I can’t be with you. But please believe me when I say my love was true.
